BLAND MATTHEWS Obituary

MATTHEWS, BLAND C.

Bland Clifford Matthews, 76, of Alachua, passed away peacefully at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Lake Butler, living most of his life in Alachua. He was the son of the late J. L. Matthews and Mary Bielling Matthews. He was a Butcher in is early life and in later years he owned and operated his cattle ranch among other enterprises. He was preceded in death by a son: John L. Matthews: Sister Pearl Seay and Brother: Alec Matthews. He was a member of the Hope Community Church of Alachua.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: Betty Alverez Matthews. His Daughter: Bobbie S. Matthews Dees (Robert) of Ringgold, Ga. His Son: Joel Clifford (Frances) of Alachua. Brother: Jack Matthews (Janet) of Lake Butler. 4 Grandchildren: Robert; Bland; Courtney; and Alyssa. 5 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 1:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Archer Funeral Home with Rev. James Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Call. Cemetery under the care of Archer Funeral Home of lake Butler. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday evening.
