LEWIS, JAMES

Mr. James Lewis, age 74, passed away June 7, 2011 at his home. Mr. Lewis was a member of Logos Baptist Assembly Church where he served as Chairman of the Church Deacon Board, and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife; Lottie D. Lewis, Gainesville, FL, children; Jose Lewis, Sharon Lewis Williams, both of Gainesville, Sonia Lewis Lawson, Tampa, FL, step-children; Bobby Moore, Long Beach, CA, Ervin Moore, Sanford, FL, Romaseata Moore, Gainesville, FL, Barbara Peterson, Orlando, FL, siblings; Catherine Guinn, Washington, DC, Lillie Lattimore(Freddie), Joseph Lewis, Lloyd Lewis, Jr.(Darlene), Ennis Lewis, all of Miami, FL, Eddie Lewis, Boston, MA, Effie Bennett, Madine Green, Hattie May George, Ella Jean Robinson, Delores Murray, all of Tampa, FL, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Lewis will be held, 12:00noon, Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. S.R. Seales, host Pastor, Rev. Dr. Robert Mitchell, officiating; burial will follow in Trenton Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home, Inc., 18 N.W. 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.

Mr. Lewis will repose in the Chestnut Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 2-7pm, and on Saturday at the Church from 11:00am until the hour of service. Family and friends are asked to meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis on Saturday at 11:15am to form the cortege.

Deacon James Lewis was a faithful member of Logos Baptist Assembly Church. He was always speaking words of encouragement and urging us to higher heights. We extend our deepest sympathy to Sis. Lottie Lewis and the entire Lewis Family. "Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart".(Psalm 27:14)
