JEAN REAMES Obituary

REAMES, JEAN L.

Jean Louise Neely Reames entered peacefully into eternal life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on, August 19, 2011, at Gainesville Health Care Center, Gainesville, Florida. She was 94. Be grateful for the joy and contributions of her life.

She was born Jean Louise Neely in Baltimore, Maryland on October 9, 1916, and graduated from Wauchula High School, Florida, in 1933. She married and moved to Gainesville in 1939 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a housewife but also worked for Southern Bell Telephone, Jolly's Toyland, and Hallmark Cards. She volunteered for many years at The Ronald McDonald House as well.

Mrs. Reames was a Charter Member of Highlands Presbyterian Church where she maintained a lifetime membership. While there she served in many positions for the Church and Women of the Church. She was active in Cub Scouts serving as a den mother and Pack Committee Member. She was an instrumental influence in each of her two sons becoming Eagle Scouts and graduates of The University of Florida.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Earl M. Reames, two sons, John N. Reames and Joseph M. Reames (Margery), three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Herron and Lillian Tipton Neely.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Gainesville Health Care Center for their compassionate care and excellent nursing in her final years.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Nature Coast be considered.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Reames will be conducted Thursday, August 25, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. at Milam Funeral Home Chapel, 311 S. Main Street, Gainesville, Florida 32601 (352) 376-5361

John, Sorry this is so late. I am so sorry about your mother. She was a lovely person and I am sure you will miss her. Just remember that she is with the other Angels in Heaven watching over you and yours. She may even be hanging out with my Mama. You never know. Love you and will keep you in my prayers.

John,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I am happy I was able to meet her when you won the employee award at Santa Fe. I know how much you love her and you will miss her, but know she is in a better place and singing with the angels. May God bless you and your family in this time of loss.

I remember Jean with such fondness when she worked at Toyland. I was married to Billy Gray at the time, and he worked with Jean. She was always so kind to us. My thoughts and prayers are with your familiy.

Johnny your mother was so loved by all her friends and family at Highlands and Gainesville for that matter. She played a BIG role in the lives of my daughters Karah and Katie. They so enjoyed having her as their special grandmother. She is truly now singing with the Lord and maybe harmonizing with many of those who have gone on before her from Highlands choir
God Bless and love to all Lisa DuPree-Gray

My sincerest, deepest condolences to John and family. Jean was always such a warm and helpful person, so devoted to my parents, and so sweet to all of us. It's like she carried a special glow around with her that shined on everyone. And she also seemed tireless, accomplishing so much for so many. She will be deeply missed and always remembered with great fondness.
