GARRETT MICHAEL, 26
Garrett Michael Blanton, age 26, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 12, at his home in Gainesville, FL. He was born on November 4, 1986, in Gainesville to Donnie and Debbie Blanton. He is a graduate of Buchholz High School and earned an AA degree from Santa Fe College. He worked in the family business, Brittany's Fine Jewelry as a sales associate since 2003.
Garrett loved Gator sports, fishing, playing softball & golf and cherished the time he spent with family and friends. He had an infectious laugh coupled with a matching smile that will never be forgotten.
Garrett was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ronald Blanton and Ronnie & Rosalie Learn. He is survived by his father; Donnie Blanton, his mother; Debbie Blanton, sister; Brittany and her husband Chris Latimer, Uncles & Aunts; LeGran and Rhonda Hewitt, Ronnie and Susan Learn, Bill and Brenda Stormant, David and Marcia Elder. Grandmother; Louise Blanton, Great-grandmother; March Livengood. Garrett also leaves behind seven cousins, three nephews, other relatives, co-workers and many, many friends made evident by the outpouring on social networks.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Westside Baptist Church 10000 West Newberry Road Gainesville, FL, officiated by Kevin Griffin. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Garrett's honor to March of Dimes North Central Florida, 1831 NW 13th Street, Suite 3, Gainesville, FL 32609.

I am sorry for the Blanton family and all that loved Garrett. Garrett was true gentleman and always offered the best words that could be said - so caring of anyone he knew. You could tell he had a great upbringing and carried it forward. I will always try to follow his example of decorum and his geniune goodwill towards everyone. He was true to himself. I hope that he is there when it is my time.

My favorite memory of Garrett is goofing off in 9th grade history class, playing bloody knuckles until our hands were so swollen we couldn't see our knuckles anymore. Time around Garrett was always a good time. Though we were never very close after high school, Garrett was always kind and had an electric personality that drew those around to him. My thoughts and prayers with all touched by his loss.
