Virgil Griffin Obituary

MOUNT HOLLY - Virgil Lee Griffin, son of the late Johnny and Lizzie Griffin, beloved husband, father and paw paw, passed away peacefully with his family on Feb. 11, 2009, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

He was preceded in death by a son, Virgil Lee Griffin Jr.; a daughter, Christine Ghonnam; a brother, John Griffin and granddaughter, Ashley Griffin.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Griffin of Charlotte; sisters, Geraldine Peebles and Francis Munnerlyn of Camden, S.C., Janie Weant of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Linda and husband Doug Dellinger of Alexis, Shirley and husband Brad Williams of Mount Holly; sons, John Griffin and James Griffin; three special grandchildren who knew him as a father, Steven Griffin, Christie Griffin and Melissa Redden.
He had eleven other grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say special thank you to Dr. Mikell Jarratt, Dr. Mark Thompson and all the special nurses who cared for him at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Virgil will truly be missed by his wife, family and friends. He is gone but will never be forgotten.

Funeral service conducted by the Revs. Jimmy McPeters and Charles Beasley will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Moun Holly.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7 yo 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Shirley Williams, 5047 Park Creek Drive, Mount Holly.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Gaston Co., PO Box 3984, Gastonia NC 28053.
