Ray Barber Obituary
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, E.E. Barber, and grandmother, Edith Barber.
He was a graduate of Rock Springs High School in Denver, N.C., and retired as a master technician from Gastonia Nissan where he continued to work part time.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Donna Ramey Barber; two daughters, Emily Barber and companion Marty Lineberger of Stanley, and Rachel Poteat and husband Dean of Lowell; a son, Jose Ramos of Mexico; two grandchildren, Travis Poteat and wife Brittany, and Jessica Poteat; five great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Julianna, Jo Jo, Jordan, and Jayden; two godsons, Jayden Rivera and Matthew Bolen; his sister, Anne Watlington of Mount Holly; a niece, Shannon Rawls and husband, Chris; a nephew, Westley Dixon; great-nephews, Caiden, Riley and Silas Rawls, and Zack Dixon; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friends, Melody Bolen and Trish Vanhoy.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Barber will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Mobley officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Woodlawn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Mount Holly, N.C., 28120.

I only found out about Ray Gene Monday,He was the only one I had to play with when we went to see uncle Ernest, he was my 2nd cousin and I hate I missed seeing him !

I loved Papa Ray and very much enjoyed working with him at Gastonia Nissan. He will forever be in my heart and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
