Walter Rzeszutek Obituary
Born July 27, 1923, in Easthampton, he was the son of Frank and Aniela (Kojder) Rzeszutek. He attended Sacred Heart School in Easthampton, and graduated from Smith Vocational High School in Northampton.
Walter was a World War II Veteran, joining the U.S. Army Dec. 3, 1943, and was discharged March 11, 1946. He received the Pacific Campaign Ribbon. He retired in 1986, after 40 years with Savage Arms in Westfield.
Walter was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Easthampton. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed shooting, woodworking and gardening, including raising his blueberries. He was a stockholder of the Pulaski Club of Easthampton, member of 25 Year Club of Savage Arms, and a former member of Easthampton Beagle Club.
He leaves his beloved wife of 68 years Gladys (Strycharz) Rzeszutek; his son Ronald Rzeszutek and wife Sheila of Easthampton; brother Father Martin Rzeszutek; sister Helen Yagodzinski of Hatfield; grandchildren Kenneth Moulton, II, and wife Beverly of Whately, Michael Moulton of Uxbridge, Lorie Moulton of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Diane Guerrin and husband Dan of Marlow, N.H.; great-grandchildren Kelly Moulton and Kenneth Moulton, II, of Whately, and Lily Guerrin of Marlow, N.H.; along with many nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by his daughter Christine Moulton in 2009, siblings Stanley, Joseph and Josephine Rzeszutek, Sophie Dufresne, Ann Wozniak, and Mary Yamer.
Calling hours are Saturday, April 12, from 9 to 11 a.m, followed by services at 11 a.m. at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Easthampton, followed by burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery with military honors.
