When I think of my sister-in-law I remember her love for life that she demonstrated in all that she did. She would do anything to make us feel welcome when we visited her and her sense of humor was constantly on display. Her love for music was surpassed only by her love for her daughter. Her de
termination to make a good life for her and her and Hayley was remarkable. I hope she was able to appreciate all of her accomplishments in this regard. We will miss her greatly and hope to one day be able to share her memory with Hayley when she is ready.

Sylvia is so much on our minds as we continue this celebration of her life here in Akron, Ohio. The memorial service at O 'Neil bed and breakfast was beautiful, with Hemminger family from Florida, Indiana, and Ohio in attendance. We are thinking also of Sylvia's beautiful daughter Hayley and we send caring thoughts to her as she continues to mourn the loss of her mother.

My memories of my sister: walking together in the garden tugging at ripe vegetables to feed Mr. Bodnar's cows hoping we wouldn't get caught, playing in the backyard capturing fireflies, watching scary movies in our creepy basement and hiding under the creepier
green afghan, waiting up until 10:30 for her return from her work shift at Lawson's. But the most poignant memory for me was when she returned from a summer band camp with an oboe and taught me how to play it. Sylvia introduced me to my favorite instrument and, as a result, brought me beautiful music.
Rest in eternal peace Sister and may your soul be filled with the beautiful music you so loved.

My deepest condolences to the family during this most difficult time. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing someone so beloved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your loved one is in God's memory, because those who pass on are precious in his eyes. Psalms 116:15

Hayley - I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was always so cheerful and friendly to me at PVB. Her conversations frequently gave me a new or different perspective that I was grateful for. Sylvia will be missed.

I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet and know Sylvia. Her relentless optimism, her determination, her deep desire to leave the world a more cared-for place - these are the lessons I will carry and try to honor. Just before Christmas, there was a holiday dinner for veterans and their families, and Sylvia popped over as the hall was being set up. She had hand knittted at least a half dozen pairs of wrist warmers for children of all ages to be given as Santa gifts that afternoon. In her home, I know there are several more pairs that have been started and which others will finish to share her warmth with our neighbors.
Every conversation with Sylvia inevitably turned to her great love for her daughter, Hayley. She was - and is - so very, very, very proud of her. They packed a lifetime of memories into a very short time. Knowing how much she loves Hayley, only Heaven is big enough to hold all that love!
Hayley, I hope you find comfort in knowing how many lives your mom touched and how much better our world is for her presence. She'll be with you always.
