Doris Linton Obituary

SOUTHAMPTON - Doris M. Linton, 94, of Southampton, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Baystate Medical Center after a brief illness while recovering from surgery.
Doris was born in Westfield on June 9, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith (Sparks) Greenwood.
She was raised and educated in Westfield, attended local schools and graduated from Westfield High School. She went to work at Warren Thread briefly before joining American Abrasives in Westfield, where she worked for many years.
Doris retired as a senior clerk in 1972 after 42 years with American Abrasives.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil E. Linton; and two sisters, Ruth Sheldon and Lauretta Scheip.
She leaves her niece and caregiver, Myrna J. West of Southampton; seven great-nephews: Kevin West, Keith West and his wife Kerry, Glenn West and his wife Lisa, Anthony Scheip, James Scheip and his wife Leslie, John Scheip, and Andrew Scheip; and great-grandnephews: Brian Scheip and Kennan West; and a great-grandniece, Valerie West. She was also predeceased by a nephew, James A. Scheip and a niece Mary Scheip.
There are no calling hours. A private graveside service with burial next to her husband, Cecil Linton, will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield.
Donations in Doris' memory may be made to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society, 163 Montague Road Leverett, MA 01054. The Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton has been entrusted with arrangements.
