Ida P. Paulson
October 13, 1914 – April 25, 2010
Ida Paulson, age 95, better known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Granny and Great Granny, was born on the family farm near Powers Lake, North Dakota. She was the eldest of four children born to Mons Erik and Alma Olson Brudvik. Her grandparents and father were Norwegian immigrants, and her mother, born in Minnesota, was of Norwegian descent. Ida attended school in Lunds Valley, ND, a county school near her home. She spent her childhood and young adulthood on the family farm.
In 1941, Ida moved to Oregon City, Oregon, where she married Paul J. Paulson, her husband and best friend for 45 years. She continued to live in their home after his passing in 1986. In 2001, she moved to Grand Junction, CO to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Dee Paulson.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edwin Brudvik and her husband, Paul J. Paulson. She is survived by her brother, Arnold Brudvik and wife, Betty of Kelso, WA; her sister, Ellen Backer of Bimidji, MN; her son, Duane E. Paulson and wife, Dee of Grand Junction, CO; her grandson, Duane E. Paulson, Jr. and wife, Lisa of Frederick, MD; her granddaughter, Rachelle (Chelle) VanBurkleo and husband, Ross of Allen, TX, and great grandchildren, Emma Paulson and Austin VanBurkleo. Ida loved all her family and friends very deeply.
Ida enjoyed music, crocheting, bird watching, growing and caring for her many African Violets, and working jigsaw puzzles. She especially enjoyed her involvement with the Zion Lutheran Women's Auxiliary in Oregon City.
Ida had a full and long life, and she will be dearly missed by her family and many special friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary Chapel. Visitation to take place Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Callahan-Edfast from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. A reception at the Paulson home for family and friends will follow the service.
