Cecil Keatts Obituary


HURT, Va. - Cecil Bennett Keatts Sr., 83, of 1196 Roark Mill Road, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at Gretna Health Care Center.

Born March 21, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Albert C. Keatts Sr. and Exie Parson Keatts.

He was a retired employee of Klopman, a farmer and of the Baptist faith.

He was married to Edith T. Keatts.

In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by three sons, Cecil Bennett Keatts Jr., Carroll Keatts and Leroy Keatts, all of Hurt; a stepson, Buck Andrews of Altavista; a stepdaughter, Lucy Arnold of Maine; two brothers, Howard Keatts of White Marsh, Md. and Albert C. Keatts Jr. of Wylliesburg; two sisters, Ruby Andrews of Altavista and Polly K. Rigney of Hurt; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sons, Ernest Keatts and David Lee Keatts and three brothers, Gordon Keatts, Boady Keatts and Thomas Keatts.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Colbert-Moran Funeral Home with Dr. Charles O'Roark officiating. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence of his sister, Polly K. Rigney, 181 Daybreak Terrace, Hurt.

Colbert-Moran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
