I will never forget my mother Molly Benson taking my granddaughter Kayden to church, she was set on finding Jesus, throughout the service she looked around and listened and when church was over she exclaimed to my mom "NeNe I found Jesus" and pointed to Mr. Farson. He made an impression on her with just his smile and kind face, I will always remember him with a smile. I am so sorry for your loss, I will keep your family in my prayers.

I had business dealings with George on various occasions while he was farming and logging. He was absolutely a man of his word, the kind you can do business with on a handshake with no need for a contract. I never knew about his baseball career until reading his obituary, but I could tell he always seemed to enjoy whatever he was doing.
I feel I have lost a valued friend.

Played against George in Danville LittleLeague in 1952. I played first base for VFW and Geo. was a pitcher. Never could get a hit off of him, but did not get to know him very well. Though I went to college at VMI and Geo. played at UVA, I was aware of his presence on the Cavaliers B Ball team. Went to Med. School at UVA after VMI and heard more of what a terrific player he was. George's team in Little League was Rotary and the only other player that I remember on that team was Jesse Meadows. Would like to have known George in later life, but after leaving Danville and Virginia I spent most of my later life in Florida , where I practiced vascular surgery until retirement in 1998. Donald L. Arey Jr. M.D. Winter Haven Florida Had a son Mark (Weeb) Arey that went graduated from UVA in 1998 and was on the Baseball Team for one year, also as a pitcher.

Our deepest sympathy at the passing of George. We will keep you all in thought and prayer in the days ahead. He loved hunting and he was doing what he enjoyed with his friends. May God give each of you his peace during this time and coming days ahead. God bless each of you.
