Lillian Vernice Smith Barts

Lillian Vernice Smith Barts, 72, of 236 Alpine Drive, Danville, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Danville Regional Medical Center.

Born June 8, 1937, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Mary Nunley Smith and the late Paul Hubert Smith. Mrs. Barts was a member of West End Christian Church. Her last employment was a part-time custodian at West End Christian Church. Prior to her retirement, she worked at K-Mart as manager of the millinery department, was employed formerly with Kroger's in the produce department and was employed with Cand P Telephone Company in 1955. She was married to Berkley Wyatt Barts.

In addition to her husband, of the residence, she is survived by one son, Paul Dwain Barts, of Burkeville; and two sisters, Pauline Smith Elliott, of Greenville, S.C. and Patricia Smith Parrish, of Danville.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Randy Wyatt Barts; and a brother, Ted N. Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Norris Funeral Services, 3995 Franklin Tpke, Danville, with the Rev. Vanessa Jean Falgoust officiating. Interment will follow in Schoolfield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at the Norris Funeral Services and at other times at the residence, 236 Alpine Drive.
