Over the years, she continued her teaching career in Holland, Franklin, and Courtland, and retired after teaching thirty one years.

Left to cherish her memory are three children, Dr. Herbert C. Manry, III, of Danville, Eleanor M. Henson and her husband, David and Carol M. Pope, and her husband, Robert H. of Courtland; eight grandchildren, Charles Manry and his wife, Amber, Rebecca Lovelace and her husband, Tony, Amanda Manry, Katelyn Manry, Heather Story and her husband, Kevin, John, Michelle, and William Pope; four great-grandchildren, Victoria and Maya Lovelace, Miranda Story, and Logan Manry; her treasured lifelong relative and friend, Katherine Harville; and devoted caregiver, Mildred Smith.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Saturday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to Courtland Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 439, Courtland, VA. 23837. I knew Aunt Iris best through the wonderful stories my father and mother told us. Daddy (her brother, Roy) was so very fond of her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Manrys and I am grateful to be connected to you through such a special person.

I have fond memories of Aunt Iris, especially through the loving tales of my grandmother and parents who believed she was one of the sweetest, loveliest people they knew. It was a wonderful bond they all had and quite inspirational. Our condolences to her children and grandchildren.
