Raymond Clayton Kirks

Raymond Clayton Kirks, age 67, of 10317 Martinsville Highway, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at his residence. He had been in declining health for the past four months.

Born April 5, 1943 in the Callands Community of Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Earnest Raymond Kirks and Annie Manning Kirks. He lived most of his life in the Bachelors Hall Community and worked at Tultex for 34 years until his retirement at age 55. Mr. Kirks was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Mildred Kirks of the residence; one daughter: Melissa Hankins of Axton; one son: Adam Kirks of Bachelors Hall; one sister: Ruby Roach of Gretna; a brother-in-law: Glenn Kirks of Bachelors Hall; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one nephew, and seven nieces.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. Daniel Lackey and Rev. Daryl Joyce will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the mausoleum at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. At other times, they will be at the residence, 10317 Martinsville Highway, Danville.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to help with funeral expenses.
