Alice Flores Obituary

SAN ANGELO Alice Jacques Flores, 84, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at her residence after a brief illness. Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home with a private family memorial/burial service at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens being planned in the near future. Alice was born in Miles, Texas to Federico Jacques and Guadalupe Zamarripa on Dec. 1, 1926. She was married to Ernest Enriquez Flores, Sr. on March 28, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas. She was a homemaker and loving mother all her life. Her dedication to her husband, children, grandchildren and mother were above and beyond words. She was an amazing woman with what appeared to be unending strength. She will be greatly missed by all her family. The following quote embodied the life and character of our mother, Alice: "Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude. It is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrong doing. It does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres." (Corinthians 13.) Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, her parents and her sister Trina Owens. Alice is survived by her children, Celia Wooldridge, Ernest Flores Jr., Rosa Horn and husband Randall, Dalia Flores, Ricardo Flores Sr. and Patsy Flores, all of San Angelo, Texas; sister Dinazar Perez; grandchildren Amy Robles and husband Joe of Odessa, Texas, Amanda Rangel of Arlington, Texas, Mark Ahola of Dallas, Texas; Michelle Flores of San Angelo, Texas; Timothy Borremans of San Marcos, Texas, Katarina Villalpando and Nicolas Knight of San Angelo, Texas; Ricardo Flores Jr., David Flores and wife Yolanda, Joseph Flores and wife Jennifer, all of San Angelo, Texas; great-grandchildren Aaron Kyle Haspel of Corpus Christi, Dustin Unger of Arlington, Texas, Cody Barrientes of Victoria, Texas; Aidan Martinez of San Angelo, Texas, Jacob Flores and Joseph Tyler Flores both of San Angelo, Texas, along with several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be given to Vista Care Hospice of San Angelo. The family of Alice Flores wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. and Ms. Cornelius Chinn, along with the following individuals associated with Vista Care Hospice who made the family's voyage through mother's illness bearable and easier to handle - Dr. Vayden Stanley, Nurses Sherry Scott, Jill McLaughlin, Erin Jones, Carisa Bridges, Hospice Aide Lilia Perez and Chaplain Ellen King.

December 14, 2010

Ernest, Dalia, Celia, Rosa, Ricky, Patsy, and all of your families, I offer my condolences on behalf of the family of the late Porfirio and Veva Flores. I had no idea your mom was ill and I'm so very sorry for your loss. My memories are from so long ago as a child growing up near many of the Flores cousins on 18th Street, and Tia "Licha" was such a kind soul. I also remember how she'd always accompany Tio Ernest, driving by Mom and Dad's house and honking, waving each time...bringing a smile to my parents' faces. You and your families are in our prayers as we have felt the pain of losing our parents and know the heartache very well. Love and blessings to you all,

Fred Dietz
