Bill Owen Obituary

SAN SABA Bill Owen Jr. passed away at the age of 80 on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, in Abilene, Texas. Bill was born on Nov. 11, 1931, to William Linn Owen Sr. and John Zack Millican in San Saba, Texas. Upon graduation from high school, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy and achieved the rank of ordnanceman. He was a Methodist and a longtime resident of San Saba County. Bill was a member of The Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and The Texas Cattle Feeders Association. Bill Owen Jr. is survived by his four sons, William Linn Owen III and wife Patti of San Saba, John Leslie Owen of Las Molinas, Calif., Larry Kelly Owen of La Quinta, Calif., Lonnie Carl Owen and wife Trish of Austin, Texas; grandchildren William Linn Owen IV, John Tyler Owen and wife Kari, Justine Owen Holmes and husband Wes, John Zack Owen and wife Jymme and Zib Dailey Owen; great-grandchildren Cooper Wayne Owen, Joselynn Ann Owen, Ella Beth Owen and Jaydin Lynn Owen; two sisters, Martha Burnham and husband Don and Eleanor Johnson and husband Jerry, all of San Saba; aunt Nell Owen Summers of Kingsland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother. A visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, in Blaylock Funeral chapel in San Saba. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, in Colony Cemetery in San Saba County with Brother Jack Riley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The West Texas Boys Ranch or other charities. Services under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Chapel, 1205 S. High, San Saba, TX 76877.
