Jesus Fernandez Obituary

SAN ANGELO Jesus "Jesse" Quinones Fernandez, 52, of San Angelo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, in Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. Prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at New Mount of Olives Assembly of God Church at 1108 Shiloh St. with Pastor Rudy Luna officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Jesse was born June 3, 1958, in Cloete, Mexico, to Jose H. and Socorro (Quinones) Fernandez. He was an auto mechanic and installed brakes for 15 years at Angelo Automotive and from there he became a warehouse maintenance tech for Suddenlink for 17 years and was a resident of San Angelo for 50 years. Jesse was married to Bernice Navarro on April 28, 1984, in San Angelo. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Jose H. and Socorro Fernandez; sister Marie Hernandez; uncle Anastacio Fernandez; aunt Juanita Fernandez; special sister-in-law Ovelia Cardenas; and his mother-in-law, Martha Navarro. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Fernandez of San Angelo; sons Jesse Fernandez Jr. and Jacob Fernandez; brothers the Rev. Javier Fernandez and wife Delia, Joe Fernandez and wife Rosalinda and Noe Fernandez and partner Rosie; sisters Margerate Moreno and husband Robert, Estella Martinez and husband Danny and Teresa Rivera and husband Alex; godchildren Mariah Fernandez, Daniel Martinez, Robert Machuca Jr., Morgan Fernandez and Emily Hernandez. Jesse was a great husband and father. He loved to be outdoors fishing and watching his sons sporting events. He was a handyman and loved to work on cars. His favorite thing to do was to watch the Texas Rangers play on TV and take his family to the Rangers games. He was a caretaker to his wife and also helped many loved ones during their times of need. Jesse had a great personality and always made us laugh. During his life he left his family and friends with many memories to last a lifetime. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Suddenlink, Seaton Medical Center, radiology department at Shannon Medical Center, Athletes World, Blacksox softball team, Community Hospital, Seaton League House for their stay in Austin and to all who partook during Jesse's benefit.

Jesse will be truly missed. He always made work a fun place to come to everyday with his sense of humor and little comments he made. Very few people can actually "make" a workplace as Jesse did. Somehow, it will never be the same without him here
