Dewey HeavyRunner Obituary
Cut Bank —Dewey HeavyRunner, 85, passed away Nov 29 in Kalispell. Rosary services will be Friday, Dec 6, at 7pm at Old Eagle Shield Center. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Dec 7, at 2pm at Little Flower Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Willowcreek Cemetery.
Dewey born July 21, 1928 to Joseph and Mary HeavyRunner. He attended school at the HeavyRunner school and college in Anaheim, CA. Dewey was blessed with 3 daughters, Laurie "Lanie", MaryAnn, and Lenoir. He worked in the oil fields for Phillips Petroleum. Dewey was a tribal councilman from 1976 to 1978. He was a chairman of the land board and formed Blackfeet Landowners Association. He was a honorary councilman until his death. Dewey married Wanda McLeod on May 7, 2012 in Elko, Nevada.
He loved to fish, go for rides, walk in the forest, people watching in Walmart. Dewey loved his family and was so excited to see his new grand babies. He, needless to say, lived his life to the fullest!
Survivors include wife, Wanda HeavyRunner of CutBank; daughters, Laurie (Ron) Hoyt and Mary Ann (Jared) Denny both of Cut Bank; brother, Ernest (Shirley) HeavyRunner of Browning; sister, Angeline Jensen of Great Falls; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph "Joe Sticks" and Mary (DuckHead) HeavyRunner; daughter, Lenoir HeavyRunner; sisters, Rosie HeavyRunner, Florence Randall, and Lenora Heavy Runner; brothers, Bobby HeavyRunner, Victor HeavyRunner, and Thomas HeavyRunner; grandson, Alexander James Hoyt; and special friend, Doris.

this is Deweys stepchildren.we send our love thoughts and prayers. wish we had found out earlier about this. we would like to let everyone know that his stepson Clifford Potts passed away as well on dec. 3rd.

Thoughts and prayers...we only knew Dewey for a short time as a neighbor. He was a very nice and thoughtful man. He will be missed....Rest in Peace Grandpa.
