John Howard Obituary

John Patrick Howard

Helena —John Patrick Howard , 42, of Missoula, passed away suddenly and tragically on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, leaving behind a large circle of family and friends.

John was born October 25, 1970, in Helena to Jack and Karen (Clifford) Howard. He graduated from Capital High School in 1989 and attended The University of Montana for a year. One of John's most interesting jobs was the time he spent in Alaska, working as a fisherman. Working outside in nature was what he loved, and he had many stories that he shared of his Alaskan adventures.

John was a very talented athlete, excelling in both golf and downhill skiing. His golf partners were regularly reminded of John's prowess on the golf course as he repeatedly outshot them. He was a natural. He was also an amazing extreme skier, spending many days on the slopes. John enjoyed the beauty of Montana and what it had to offer - hunting, fishing, swimming, camping. He particularly looked forward to the family's yearly hunting camp, where his absence will be felt this year and for many years to come.

John's infectious smile, laugh and loving personality will be missed at our family gatherings, where we could always count on his storytelling and jokes. He was so affectionate to those he loved and we all knew how much he loved us. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and we will miss him dearly at each and every family event.

John is survived by his dad Jack ( Kay) Howard, his siblings Linda (Mike) McPherson, Dirk Howard, Krista Howard, Larry (Patty)Howard & Jeff Howard, stepfather Bob Dunham, several uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins, and his great nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother Karen Dunham, his cousin and very close friend Brett Howard.

An 11:00 am graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery in Helena followed by a reception at the Eagles16, 801 N. Fee Street will take place on Saturday July 6th.

Rest in peace, sweet John. You will forever be missed.
