Douglas Casson Obituary

Douglas James Casson

Great Falls —Douglas James Casson, 46, of Great Falls, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at his residence. Visitation is Tuesday, August 12, from 6-8pm in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home. The Funeral Service is also at Croxford's, Wednesday, August 13, at 3pm with burial and military honors to follow at Highland Cemetery.

Doug was born on February 2, 1968 in Great Falls to parents Larry and Barbara Casson. After graduating high school in 1987, he married his beloved wife of 26 beautiful years, Tina Casson, in Caribou Maine in 1988. Together they brought 2 wonderful children into the world; their daughter Allison Faith and son Christopher Douglas. Throughout the course of their marriage, Doug proudly served 3 years of active duty in the United States Air Force before serving in the Montana Air National Guard, where he stayed until retiring in 2006. While serving in the Air National Guard, Doug proudly volunteered his time, service and safety in Kuwait and Iraq during the Iraqi Freedom.

Throughout the course of Doug's life, he worked a variety of jobs, but all with the same core principle of saving lives. He was ambitious and devoted to the calling of emergency services. At one time he was a full-time EMT, Fire Fighter, MANG and Volunteer Fire Fighter! Yet always remained a devoted and loving husband and father. He served not only to rescue and protect those in danger, but to serve and protect his family which he loved very much and was proud to have in his life.

No matter how many jobs he seemed to take on all at once, he always enjoyed the life he helped build at home with Tina and the kids. Doug enjoyed camping, traveling, building model cars, collecting train sets and antique fireman gear or just sitting around a campfire with his beloved family and friends.

Doug had many accomplishments to be proud of; Chief of the Black Eagle Fire Department, volunteer fire fighter, part owner of Big Sky Paramedics, and at the time of his passing, he was serving the Vaughn Fire Department as Safety Officer and Black Eagle QRU.

Survivors are Tina Casson; daughter Allison Casson; son, Christopher Casson; mother, Barbara Casson; sister, Sandra (Brett) Herzog; brothers, Brian (Jess) Casson, Michael (Amy) Casson, Andrew Casson, David (Jaime) Disbrow; nieces and nephews, Mallory, Tucker, Augustus Herzog, Matthew, Nicholas, Michael Casson, Haile Casson, Drake Disbrow.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Larry Casson; uncle, Tom Davidson and grandmother, Gwen Davidson.

Tina and family,
So sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He was quite a guy and a wonderful freind. I will always remember when you were expecting Allison, he wafered between great pride and scheer panic. We visited quite a bit about babies as my daughter was also expecting and her daughter is just a little older than Allison. When I saw you all at the last program at school he was just glowing with pleasure at his magnificent family. I will never forget how happy you all looked that day.
May God wrap His loving arms around you and give you peace in this your hours of sorrow. Love and prayers to each one of you.

I will miss Doug at the ECDR Motocross track. It was always nice to see him parked on the road watching over us just in case we did something really dumb.

May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

Rest in Peace Doug

Doug was a great mentor to me while I had the pleasure of working with him on the Black Eagle Fire Department. He was one of the best firefighter/EMTs I had the pleasure of knowing. I know he will be missed by a great many people. I pray those left behind find comfort in knowing he is in the glory of God now. REST IN PEACE CHIEF... WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!!

Casson Family,
Please accept my condolences about the loss of Doug. Doug will always be remembered for his kind heart he had. It breaks my heart to hear about his passing because he is way way to young. God must have had a plan for him and now he is an angel in heaven. It is time now to reflect on the happy memories of Doug (for me is when he fixed my car in high school). Doug you will be missed by many but you will never ever be forgotten. RIP.

Good bye Doug Casson

Why did you have to go and die?
I don't want to have to say goodbye.
God must have thought you were special to take you away,
but couldn't he have waited for another day?
God's looking after you now,
High, high up in the sky.
Up there where all the angels lie.
You wouldn't have wanted me to make a fuss,
After all, you're still down here with all of us.
Just because I can't see you, doesn't mean you're not here.
I know you are somewhere very, very near.
We all love you so much but it time to say:
Goodbye My Friend Doug Casson
Because your life here on earth has come to an end.
