WHITEHALL - Former White Sulphur Springs resident Richard "Ricky" Manger, 58, of Whitehall, died of complications from diabetes Thursday, May 5, at a Butte hospital.

His funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Twichel Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs, with burial at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fish Creek Cemetery in Whitehall.

Rick was born Jan. 10, 1953, to Bill and Gloria (Peltzer) Manger at White Sulphur Springs.

Rick and his siblings, Bill and Susie, grew up on a sheep ranch west of White Sulphur Springs. He attended local schools, later graduating from Helena Vo-tech in 1976, with a degree in welding.

In the fall of 1976, he married Vicky McGee of Whitehall. They made their home in White Sulphur Springs. They were joined by one daughter, Amy, five years later. He worked on the family ranch until 1981. Rick formed his own logging company until he moved to Whitehall to run Vicky's family ranch. Rick was a true outdoorsman. Each season brought him new and exciting adventures. He would snowmobile, dirt bike and four-wheel around the area, but his best season was hunting, not only for the sport, but it was a time to visit new and old friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Manger; and sister Susie Manger.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Vicky of Whitehall; daughter Amy Manger of Whitehall; and his grandson, Aidan. He also is survived by two stepbrothers, Ian Manger of White Sulphur Springs and Jason Manger of Kalispell; stepsister Holly Bergan of White Sulphur Springs; nephews and nieces Bodie Dylan Morrison of White Sulphur Springs, Kyle Manger of Juneau, Alaska, Brandy Manger of White Sulphur Springs, and Lacey Morrison of White Sulphur Springs; and very special friends Charlie, Brian, Dave and Wesley.
