Alice C. Diederich Gaura-Kuczer, 86, formerly of Suamico, died peacefully Thursday, September 5, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born November 22, 1926, in Green Bay to John and Elizabeth (Ambrosius) Diederich. On July 6, 1946, Alice married the love of her life, Peter Gaura. He preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1979. She later married Phillip Kuczer and he preceded her in death.

Alice had been employed at Larsen Canning Co. and Pulaski Shoe Factory. For most of her life she farmed alongside her husband, Peter. Alice was a longtime member of St. Benedict Parish in Suamico and Assumption BVM Parish in Pulaski. Alice enjoyed crocheting beautiful doilies and afghans, gardening, sewing clothing for her kids, opening the farmstead to family and friends, telling jokes, and keeping the cookie jar full. She was well known for her hot bread fresh from the oven and homemade doughnuts. Being a woman of many talents, she acquired the skill of Polish cooking; she could play piano and organ by ear, and loved to sing and yodel.

Alice is survived by seven children and their spouses, Beverly and George French Jr., Sue and Jim Rienow, Steve and Nancy Gaura, Jean and Tom Kriedeman, Patricia and Patrick Jelen, Nancy and Wally Welsing, Ted Gaura; three step-children, Marilyn and Dennis Tennessen, Tom and Linda Kuczer, Roger and Geri Kuczer; fourteen grandchildren, Craig Gregozeski, George French III, Jessica French, Erika French, Rene VanDen Elzen, Joshua Gaura, Melissa Butler, Adam Kriedeman, Abby Kriedeman, Cari Novak, Tracie Novak, Amanda Gaura, Alicia Gaura, Peter Gaura; seven step-grandchildren, Alisa Tennessen, Kristin Tennessen, Adam Kuczer, Bob Kuczer, Jared Kuczer, Tieha Kuczer, Rachel Kolkowski;seven great-grandchildren, Reed Titulaer, Justin Wojkiewicz, Joseph Gaura, Julia Gaura, Michael Gregozeski, Henry Gregozeski, Claire Butler . She is further survived by Barbara Gaura and John Novak; Ga-in Bae; two sisters, Rosella Sorenson, Viola Maus; a brother, Anthony Diederich; her in-laws, Stella Mathews, Elizabeth and Ervin Oskey, Christine Tilque, Margaret Diederich.

In addition to her two husbands, Alice was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Peter Novak; three brothers, Gabe, Vincent, and Leo Diederich; three sisters, Agnes Ausloos, Leona Borremans, Lorraine Raymaker.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A Personalized Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 124 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Father Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in St. Benedict Cemetery in Suamico.
