Iris Diamond Obituary

Diamond, Iris

Iris Diamond went home to Jesus on Friday, May 16, 2014. She was born and lived on the west side of Green Bay in St Patrick's Parish for most of her 90 years, moving to Bishop's Court for assisted care when her Parkinson's disease no longer allowed her to stay on Bond Street.

After graduating from West High, Iris worked for Chicago & Northwestern Railroad and as legal secretary to Attorney M. E. Davis. She married John "Jack" Diamond on May 11, 1946. An avid bridge player and league bowler, Iris enjoyed traveling, shopping, and family gatherings. She counted collections at church and delivered communion to the homebound.

In Heaven, she joins her husband, Jack; son, Bill; and grandson, Bob. Suplinski family members welcoming her include her parents, Jacob and Rachel (Simonet) Suplinski; sister, Marian (and Dan Baker); brother, Harold Suplinski; sister, Lucille (and Chet Libal); brother, Norman (and June) Suplinski; and sister, Rita (and Ray Plake). Iris will be reunited with Diamond in-laws, John and Genevieve Diamond, Pat and Cy Bushmaker, Gennie and Joe Theis, Ann and Chet Skaleski, and Jim Diamond.

Iris is survived by six of her seven children and their spouses, John and Deb Diamond, Irene and George Stanic, Nancy and Scott Seibert, Mary and Ron Jaseph, Pat and Laura Diamond, Carrie and Dave Cedergren; 24 grandchildren, John, Paul, and Jeff Diamond; Phil Diamond, Russ Diamond, and Susan Locy; Aleks Diamond-Stanic; James and Blair Seibert; Ryan, BJ, and Lara Jaseph; Brian, James, Sean, Chris, Joe, Patrick, Mary, Eileen, Andy, Thomas, and William Diamond; and Julia Cedergren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Joann (and Al DeCleene); in-laws, Dot and Don Anderson, Betts Diamond, Millie Suplinski; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 23. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2111 N. Maple Ave with Rev. Don Everts officiating. I remember parking at Iris's house with Bill, Donna, Russell, Susan, and my own family then walking to watch the fireworks downtown on the 4th of July. She was always so nice. Condolences to the family.

Iris was our next door neighbor while we lived on Bond and our girls were small. She was a dear lady and we always enjoyed her vip and vim. Of course, watching Iris's irises grow was joyful as well!
So very sorry to learn of your loss. I hope she is resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
