Donald Bogacz Obituary

Donald A. Bogacz

Donald A. Bogacz, 66, Pulaski, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He was born April 1, 1948, in Shawano to Anton and Alice (Holewinski) Bogacz. Don was a 1966 graduate of Bonduel High School. He worked for Schreiber Foods for 30 years. He then went to Fox Hills in Mishicot, where he sold time-shares. Don also drove mini-buses for Howard Zernicke in the Pulaski School District. On May 17, 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy (Druckrey) Bogacz. The couple had two children, Dennis and Debbie. Don was a US Army veteran who proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #337, Pulaski.

Donny was in his glory at the ball diamond or at any athletic event. He followed his children and, now, his grandchildren at all of their sporting events. Grandpa B didn't miss many games. He loved coaching youth sports and was very instrumental in the development of the softball and baseball fields in Pulaski, where he coordinated the tournament trail years after his own children were no longer participating. He and his cousin, Jim, put a lot of miles on their vehicles going all over the state to sporting events. Donny also enjoyed his trips to the casino and sitting outside the garage enjoying his old fashion(s).

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Dennis (Candice) Bogacz, and their daughter, Taylor, and son, Brock, Pulaski; his father-in-law, Charles Druckrey, Pulaski, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie, his parents, his sister and her husband, Janet and Bob Mayer, and his mother-in-law, Romaine Druckrey.

Friends may call at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 124 E Pulaski St, Pulaski, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with a Veterans Service at 7:00 p.m., and a Closing Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. The visitation continues after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at the church, Fr. Bob Konkol, OFM presiding. Burial with full military honors by the Pulaski Area Veterans will follow in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.

Had him as a coach in my younger days. He was my first couch I ever had for any sport, actually. Even as a 9, 10, and 11 year old I knew he was a good coach. But as I got older and encountered the skills and abilities of other so called, "coaches", it soon became quite evident to me that he just wan't a good coach he was a GREAT coach. It seems odd to say, but it's been over thirty years since I was a student of his game,...and still after all these years, I can't let a summer go by and drive past a ballgame going on and not think of him. More specically, wonder how he managed to always get the best out us kids.
(Perhaps it was his simple incentive of buy each and everyone of his players a soda after every game we won.
But a doubt it.)
