Kathleen Long Obituary

Long, Kathleen

Kathleen Long ,64, Waukesha (formerly of Green Bay), died peacefully on November 20, 2014, after a two year battle with cancer. She was born in Green Bay on January 28, 1950, the youngest of nine children and the daughter of James and Bernadette Long.

She grew up in Green Bay and graduated from West High School in 1968. She went on to receive her degree from UW-Green Bay in 1983. After graduation, she worked as a Human Resources Executive for several Wisconsin companies including Stokely in Sun Prairie, MRA in Pewaukee and most recently, ORP Management in Oconomowoc. She was dedicated to her work at each company she served and brought to every task her calm professionalism, positive attitude and a firm sense of fairness and integrity.

Kathy will be remembered for many wonderful things including her warm smile, quick wit and her sense of humor. She was generous with her time and a patient listener who gave sound advice. Her gracious manner served as an example to all who came to know her.

She was close with her extended family and enjoyed hosting several family get-togethers each year. Vacations with her sisters were the highlight of her summers and included shopping and sightseeing trips to New York and Chicago. On Sundays during football season, Kathy could always be found coaching the Packers on TV. Every autumn she would take a week of vacation to stay home and bake Christmas cookies and her highly coveted homemade Chex Mix for her family, friends and coworkers.

Kathy will be sadly missed by her siblings, Geraldine (Frank) Pirman, Green Bay, Maureen (Roger) Vaessen, Little Suamico, Colleen Long Turnquist, De Pere and Victor (Jayne) Long, Racine, as well as her sister-in-law, Darlene Long, Green Bay and brother-in-law, Harold Proctor, Sturgeon Bay. Kathy was also the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Donald J. Long, Patricia Peterson, Thomas Long and Nancy Proctor; brother-in-law, Howard Peterson and sister-in-law, Tae Long.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Funeral Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Sr. Anne Marie Selinsky O.S.F. officiating

Our heartfelt sympathy to the Long Family in the loss of their beloved Kathy. We worked with Kathy through ORP only a short time but could always look to her for knowledge. We hope the family takes comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel watching over you.

To the Long Family:
I am saddened to hear of Kathy's passing. She was my mentor over the many years she came to our rescue at Dowco, Inc. I will miss her wisdom, calming spirit and sense of fairness. The world has lost a remarkable person, she will be missed.
