Allison D. Monaghan

Allison Ann Downs Monaghan, 57, of Liberty, passed away Friday, April, 5, 3013.

Mrs. Monaghan was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, the daughter of Leona Hammock Downs, of Liberty and the late Robert Alexander Downs, Jr.

She received a nursing degree from Valencia Community College and was a nurse at Hospice of the Foothills, Cottingham Hospice House.

Mrs. Monaghan loved sports and animals, and attended Clemson United Methodist Church.

In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Thomas Hugh Monaghan; loving aunts, June Hansen and Dee Smith; uncle Max Hammock and his wife Jan; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and several cousins.

Memorial services will be Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 12:00 noon, in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central. The family will greet friends, at the funeral home, following the service.

Memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Rd., Greenville, SC 29607.

Condolences may be expressed online at www.robinsonfuneralhomes.com or in person at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, which is assisting the family.

I remember how warm her smile was when i first met her at our class reunion...and how concerned she was to care for your sick dog in the hotel during that long w.e. event! What a wonderful, caring and kind person Allison was. During our second round at the hospice house, she always had such kind words of encouragement. She kept me laughing at times I didn't think I could and made my time there with my Grandpa as easy as possible. Allison touched countless lives through her ministry with Hospice, both for those who've gone before her and to those that remain. The Hospice of the Foothills and Cottingham Hospice House family lost a true family friend but her smile and awesome sense of humor will live on in our hearts. Allison spoke fondly and often of her family...her mother, husband Tom and, of course, her animals. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers, and a candle burns at Cottingham for Allison.
