I went to high school with Corey for a brief period of time. Sometime between 2005 and 2008. Might have been about 6 or 7 months, maybe less.

In the short time that I knew Corey he influenced me profoundly. He was, at that point, the single funniest person I had ever met. Corey's humor/wit was on an entirely different level than his peers. I cannot put into words how genuinely hilarious this guy was. So much so that he heavily influenced my sense of humor, and I still think about him to this day.

I wouldn't describe us as "close" friends and I don't think I knew Corey long, or well, enough to deserve to say that I miss him... but I do.

He was taken from us too soon. Much love to all his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Kim, I am so sorry to hear about Corey. From what I just read, he never changed. It seems like yesterday he had his cute little bowl cut and the sweetest smile. He was a joy to keep and loved life. He and little Jerry both were such good kids. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I knew Corey simply from skateboarding in Greenville. He had an amazing talent at making everyone laugh and feel at ease. Though we were never formally introduced he always asked me how I was doing and where I'd been skateboarding. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. He will truly be missed.

Corey has always been a special friend to my son Tyler. He also showed concern toward our entire family when he thought Tyler was in need of anything! Corey's charm was a kind of charm that, once you got to know him, you knew was genuine. We pray that Corey will rest in peace...however, I wouldn't doubt that the Corey we all know will continue to let all of his family and friends know he is with them.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to your family. We met Corey when he played music at Java Jolt. He was an encouragement to our son, who also played at Java Jolt. He will not be forgotten.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to Corey's family and his many friends, one of which was my son, Derek. I will forever miss seeing Corey come bounding into my house, always with his close group of friends and projecting his "light up the room" smile, always looking to have some fun. Corey was a unique individual - so full of life and energy that when he would call across the room, "How have you been Miss Shawn and where have you traveled to lately", he always brightened my day! He will be missed by many but never forgotten. One of my favorite quotes is "There are some people who come into your life and when they do, you are never, ever the same" - thank you Corey James for showing up in mine!
