Born in Greenville, he was a son of George E. Hyder and the late Norma Justin Duke Hyder. Graduate: University of South Carolina.
Survivors: Wife, Sandy Hyder; and a sister, Graham Huston of Winston-Salem, N.C.
Visitation: 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday at The McDougald Funeral Home. Memorial service: 1:45 p.m. today at Mount Paran Church of God, Central, in Atlanta.
Omit flowers. Memorials: Special Olympics South Carolina Area No. 14, P.O. Box 1049, Anderson, SC 29622.

Ohhhhhhh George. To come across your obituary all these years later, what an absolute shock! I will never forget you nor your enthusiasm for life and lifting people up - even in their darkest times. I'll bet you are the loudest person in Heaven yelling "Pump It Up", too. I will always be so grateful for your friendship and your enthusiasm for life.
