Mary Jean Alexander

Mary Jean Alexander, 79, wife of J.C. Alexander of 301 S. Lee Avenue died November 13, 2012 at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

She was born in Landrum, SC a decendant of a Pioneer, O.P. Earle. She was daughter of the late Baylis and Gertrude Christopher. She was predeceased by a son, John Mark and a daughter, Anna Eliza.

She was a graduate of Winthrop College with a degree in music. She taught many students the art of playing the piano at her home studio for many years and was a member of the American Guild of Organists. She was a member of the Landrum Presbyterian Church where she served as church organist for 35 years.

She was a true patron of the arts enjoying concerts at Converse College, Brevard Music Center and the Peace Center for Performing Arts. Later in life, she enjoyed her volunteer work at O.P. Earle Elementary School.

A private committal was held.

The family wishes to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the associates of Pallative Care and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for your wonderful care, help and concerns.

Any memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills Hospice House, 260 Fairwinds Road, Landrum, SC 29356.
