Magnolia Wright Obituary

Magnolia Wright, age 104, formerly of 710 Sullivan Street, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, in the National Healthcare Center of Laurens.

The wife of the late Dr. Earl E. Wright and a daughter of the late Adam and Lula Jackson, she was a member of the White Plains Baptist Church, Mountville, former owner and operator of the Wright's Beauty Shop, where she trained many beauticians. She was the founder of the Rosamunda Beautician Club, member of the Sunshine Chapter #62, Order of the Eastern Star, member of the NAACP, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Tumbling Shoals Association Women's Auxillary and the Minister's Wives. A daughter, Lorraine W. Martin, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Earl (Sarah) Wright, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Lula Stone of the home and Marie (Willie) Grant of Laurens; three grandchildren, Roslyn S. Johnson of Laurens, Earl Wright, III and Donna Wright; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Sinitra Johnson; and one great-great-grandchild, Sydney Smith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 noon at the White Plains Baptist Church, with Rev. Johnny L. Johnson and Rev. James A. Gray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family is at the home.
