Jerry Dalton "Bugs" Jenkins, 74, of Greenville, husband of Freddie Mae Funk Jenkins, died Thursday, March 21, 2013.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late William and Evelyn Philyaw Jenkins and his adopted parents, the late James and Ethel Powell.
Mr. Jenkins retired from Overnite Transportation after 35 years of service and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Jerry enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing.
In addition to his loving wife of 56 years, he is survived by daughter, Evelyn Bonnell (Mike); son Jay Jenkins (Colleen); grandchildren, Kimberly Bonnell (Ricky), Steven Bonnell (Courtney), and Krystal Jenkins (Austin); great grandchildren, Aiden Johnson, Jaxon Lambright and Brayden Andrews; sisters, Ann Stepp (Jim) and Gwen Spake (John); brothers, Bill Powell (Pat) and Bob Jenkins (Cindy); and special family friends, Teresa and Jerry Marcus and Robin and Brenna Grindstaff.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Powell, Jr.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence.

I have been away, but like to read the hometown news. I was shocked to read of Jerry's passing. I remember him from when I was a just a kid, he was a kind, energetic, fun loving person, and a good family man. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, may God bless and keep you, each and every one.
