To The Benvenuto Family,

I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Bennie. Connecticut has lost a true gentleman and one of its finest public servants. I was Bennie's press person when he served as state Senator and remained friends with him and Betty for many years. He was a wonderful and kind man and it was an honor to have known him. His warm smile, big hugs, and generous ways will remain with me always.

Tony and family,

My sincerest sympathy. I well remember going over to “Moe’s” in his first store on the Post Rd. with my mother when I was a kid. He not only had the broadest and brightest smile in Riverside, but always kept a box of Tootsie Roll pops under the counter for the kids. You can bet that made my day.

I first met Bennie in a hotel elevator in Washington, DC in 1987. We were attending a meeting of "Citizens for America", a Reagan support group. I mentioned that I lived in New Bern, NC and he said he had a place at Fairfield Harbor.

He was a gentleman and a great political conversationalist. I did an internet search to look up his contact info to reconnect when I learned of his passing.

Our condolences to his family and friends.

To the Benvenuto Family: The era of the Gentleman in Greenwich is diminished with the death of Bennie. Over the years since 1977 I had the pleasure of listening to Bennie's answers to questions posed and he never failed me or the town he loved.
My wife and I respected and loved this good man. May he rest in peace.

He was a wonderful and intelligent man. I am his niece and the oldest of Rocco Benvenuto's grandchildren. Many of my memories as a child were about seeing him and his family at the Holidays. My aunt Betty had this lovely doll house set up in the foyer and I looked forward to seeing that for days. He also did do much to help with his daughter's school for children with Autism and related disablities. My own child Abbie has autism and I know first hand the how important that was for many families in their time of need to have a safe school to send their children to. I commend him for this along with all the other wonderful things he accomplished in his lifetime as one of the most important.

It is with heavy heart that we say good bye to Bennie. We will miss the calls, checking up on the horses, the visits with the pounds of carrots for Teddie, Vita and all the foals. We hope he and Betty are at the big track in the sky, watching Angie go round and round.

Great afternoon on the boat
