Joy Rusin, age 31, died July 22 2016 at the UCSD hospital in San Diego CA.
Joy was born in the South of France August 17 1984 to Lynn Stuart Gray and Iuliu Barbat. She was the maternal granddaughter of Lucile (Kougie) Ralston Gray and David Gray of Greenwich CT and Nantucket MA; was the maternal great granddaughter of Lucile and John Ralston of Dixon IL and Nantucket MA; and the maternal great granddaughter of Margaret and William Steele Gray, Sr of Greenwich CT. Joy was the paternal granddaughter of Iuliu and Victoria Barbat of Cluj, Romania.
Joy was raised in Gémenos, France, Greenwich CT, Weston CT and Nantucket MA and moved to San Diego CA in 2008. She graduated from the Weston High School and attended Rollins College. She was certified as a Core Power Yoga teacher and was a current student at the San Diego Design Institute.
Joy was beloved by her large community of friends in San Diego for her compassionate heart, her generous spirit, her sense of humor, her patience, her luminous wisdom, and the brightness of her presence.
Joy married Craig Rusin Sept 20 2014 in San Diego. She is survived by her mother of San Diego CA, father of Miami FL, husband, son, William Gray Rusin born July 18 2016, an Aunt Joan White of Jackson NH and cousins Alden White Ballard and Orly White of Cody WY.
A memorial service was held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego on Aug 17. Joy will be buried in the family plot on Nantucket Island at a time to be determined.
