Kevin Dorrico Obituary

KEVIN PAUL DORRICO, 52, of Wylie, TX, formerly of Greenwich, died on August 4, with his long-time companion, Darvin Carson, by his side. Kevin was born in Stamford, CT on December 5, 1957, a son of Barbara A. (Fraser) Dorrico, of Kent, CT, and the late Frank A. Dorrico, Jr. He was the grandson of the late Frank A. and Mary Dorrico of Stamford, CT and the late Paul B. and Anna Fraser of Riverside, CT. He was educated in the Greenwich Public Schools, class of 1977. After high school, he worked for General Reassurance, followed by GTE in Stamford, working in the mail room and raising his family in Norwalk, CT until 1988. He relocated to the Dallas, TX area with GTE, staying on with Verizon Services after the merger. He retired from Verizon in 2006, and spent the last four years serving in a variety of positions. He loved helping out with his grandsons, as well as being a "Santa" for a portrait studio that catered to families and their pets. For the past year he was employed by Fujitsu, working again, in the mail room, a position he loved as he was able to connect with all of his co-workers. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word to everyone. Besides his mother, Kevin is survived by his daughters Nicole (Vinny) Giancaspro of Fort Worth, TX and Elyse Dorrico of Bedford, TX; his grandsons Vinny and Gino of Fort Worth, TX; his brothers: Frank Dorrico, III of Stamford, CT and Michael (DeeAnn) Dorrico of Norwalk, CT; his sisters Susan (Rick) Vizzari of Kent, CT and Patricia Dorrico of Greenwich, CT; his niece and nephew McKinley and Michael of Norwalk, CT, as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. His daughters held a service for him on Monday, August 10th at the North Dallas Funeral Home, Farmers Branch, TX, which was well attended. The family would like to thank those who attended and expressed such kind words. His mother will have a Memorial Mass for Kevin on August 28th at St. Paul's Church, 84 Sherwood Ave., Greenwich, CT 06831 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Kevin.

I worked with Kevin at GTE and became a good friend of mine. We were in touch often and he always knew how to make me laugh and smile. Kevin was a true treasure and a man who loved his friends and family. He always spoke lovingly of his Mom, kids, grandkids and siblings. He will truly be missed. We can feel comforted knowing that he is with the Lord.
