Jeffrey Krack Obituary

Krack, Jeffrey B.
Jeffrey Krack, 60, passed away on February 29th, 2016 at NYU Langone in Manhattan. Jeff was born in Portchester, NY on September 20th, 1955.
Jeff, a natural mechanic, always loved cars and studied mechanical engineering at Norwalk Technical College. He apprenticed at Armonk Auto Body for several years before purchasing the shop for $600, fulfilling his dream of owning and operating his own automotive business that would offer the highest quality service for the best value.
In 1977, Jeff founded Ridge Auto Body, Inc. The shop was originally on the site of Ridge Construction Company on Business Park Drive and moved to its location on 23 High Street in 1987. On August 2nd, 2009, the New York Times featured his shop in an article titled "Appreciation for a Simple Pickup". The shop, which has been called "Armonk's best kept secret," is tucked away among High Street's residential area and wooded lots.
He was a member of the Armonk Chamber of Commerce for many years and would always partake in community activities like the "Frosty Winter Parade". He was also a director at the Middle Patent Cemetery (North Castle, NY). As a volunteer, he helped maintain the cemetery grounds and was the leader of the headstone restoration project.
Jeff was loved by many, and will be missed. Mr. Krack was the son of the late Robert and Margaret Krack. He is survived by his wife Laura Krack of Carmel, NY; their two daughters, Katelynn, and Elizabeth of Carmel New York; his brother Peter Krack of Danbury, CT. I live live closely to Jeff's shop and he did various jobs on my cars over the years. He did great work without exception. In recent years we would conduct business on a handshake - no need for an estimate. It was such piece of mind to work with an honest and hardworking professional knowing that he had my back. Many times I would stop for some type of help and advice. I always stayed an additional 15 minutes because I truly enjoyed his company. God Bless you Jeff.

Of the many classmates I connected with during those years and since, Jeff was one who was always there, friendly, interested. I regret not taking the time to expand our friendship. A good man, I will miss him. To the family and loved ones, cherish the memories and know that he will be remembered fondly by the GHS Class of '73.
