LLOYD L. SPEER Jr.

LLOYD L. SPEER JR., 76, of Green Valley, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2011.

He was born in Oak Park, Ill. on Sept. 21, 1934 to Lloyd and Helen Speer. Lloyd grew up in Wheaton, Ill., was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1952 where he was Senior Class President.

He graduated from Michigan State University in 1956 and University of Illinois Law School in 1961. From 1956 to 1958 he was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Lloyd was an attorney specializing in personal injury with Speer & Associates in Wheaton before retiring in 1995.

Lloyd married Loella Smith and resided in Glen Ellyn, Ill. for 35 years. He was active in the First Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn, served on the Glenbard District 87 Board of Education, and coached and served on the governing boards for youth baseball, football and basketball.

After retiring to Green Valley, he was a member of the Country Club of Green Valley serving as its President in 2000. Lloyd also served as President of the Country Club Estates Board of Directors.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lloyd is survived by Loella, his wife of 53 years. Also surviving are three sons: Steve of Tucson with children Kevin and Kellie, Stan (Kathy) of Westlake Village, Calif. with children Samantha and Matthew, and Scott (Lynn) with son Shane. Also surviving are his sister Roma Jean Brown (Dr. Dick A.J. Brown) of Needham, Mass.; sister-in-law Judy Noren of Green Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Glen Ellyn, Ill. with burial at the Wheaton Cemetery.
