1924 - 2016

WILCH, William A. "Bill Age 92, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties where he had been a patient for three days. He was born March 15, 1924 in Middletown, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army During W.W. II. His son, Stephen J. Wilch, along with help from his father, wrote a book, "Don't Just Kill Them, Murder Em" about his time of service during the war. Bill was employed at Diamond National for two years, and then was employed as a scheduling clerk at Sorg Paper Company for 44 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Miami Valley V.F.W. Post 3809, the Halo For Freedom Foundation in Ft. Worth Texas, and the Wounded Warrior Weekend to Remember in Middletown. Preceding him in death were his parents, Leo P. and Helen (Paden) Wilch; his wife, Mary Rita Routson Wilch in 2009; one brother, Robert Wilch; and three sisters, Ruby Weidner, Marcia Barker and Sharon Weisse. He is survived by six children, Dan (Sherry) Wilch, Steve (Connie) Wilch, Michele (Rick) Shaffer, Cindy Minehart, Jon (Julie) Wilch, and John (Mary) Chiddington (of London, England); twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; and a host of extended family and friends. There will be a time of greeting for family and friends on Friday, December 9, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.at the Berachah Baptist Church, 1900 Johns Road, Middletown, Ohio 45044. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the church with Pastor Lamar Ferrell officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard and the Army Honor Guard. The Team Fast Trax Sky Divers will perform a Parachute Jump at the church in his honor. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
