POPPEL, Phillip Edward Age 53 of Hamilton, passed away at home on Monday, August 8, 2016. He was born in Hamilton on September 22, 1962 to Clifford and Shirley (Bens) Poppel. Philip was employed at Butler County Lumber for 27 years. He was a member and usher at St. Ann Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 968, and AMVETS Post 1983. He is survived by his siblings; Pamela (John) Thompson, Perry (Amy) Poppel, Cliff Poppel, Mary Ann Anderson, Paul (Cheryl) Poppel, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3028 Pleasant Avenue, on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 10 AM with Fr. Larry Tharp and Bishop Joe Binzer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home 1350 Millville Ave Hamilton, 45013 with a Knights of Columbus service beginning at 7:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Ann Catholic Church Roots and Wings Tuition Assistance or Animal Friends Humane Society, 1820 Princeton Rd. Hamilton, 45011. Phillip was my student many years ago at Adams School. I was very saddened to learn of his death. He was a gentle soul,always had a smile for everyone and he had such a kind heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He will be greatly missed.

Cliff, Mary Ann, Paul, Pam and Perry,

Words cannot express the sadness that those who knew Phil are experiencing at this time. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies and may you be comforted by the outpouring of love and support surrounding you. Memories of Phil at Camp Gard and the many years following will always be a special treasure to me. Those who knew Phil know what a great guy he was. All who knew him had a friend for life. He communicated in his own special way his joy, his heart, his life. He will be missed, but, he will be remembered by so many whom he has touched.

My brother, Randy and my cousin, Doug and I enjoyed our association with Phil through Camp Campbell Gard along with that of Phil's family.

One never knows when one is making a memory. Phil did that everyday.

My sympathies to the Poppel family in the loss of a truly great guy.

Pam, Perry, Cliff, Mary Ann and Paul,
I am so sad and heartbroken at the passing of Phil. My family and I were able to spend some time with him a few weeks ago and it was great to see him and to let him know how much we loved him. He had the ability to make everyone around him happy. I have great memories of our time at Camp Gard and seeing Phil everyday with that smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. God finally has the perfect angel.
