Barbara McCLURE Obituary


News Death Notice

McCLURE, Barbara Elizabeth (Smith) 58, resident of Franklin, Ohio, was called home by her Maker on Wednesday morning, December 5, 2012 at 11:45 a.m. at the Atrium Medical Center. She is survived by her partner of 12 years, Stephen Leugers, Franklin, Ohio; her mother, Charlotte M. Smith, Fort Dodge, Iowa; sister, Sandra J. Anderson, Las Vegas, Nevada; and sister-in-law, Marlys Smith, Fort Dodge, Iowa. Barb was preceded in death by her dad, Harold Smith; and brother, William G. Smith. She was born December 16, 1953 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Barb was a dedicated volunteer for worthy causes. She organized the "Ladies of Renaissance" in order to support through donations the Animal Friends Humane Society animal shelter, and Angel House, a home for battered women. Barb was a member of the Fort Dodge Noon Lions Club. She received a commendation from General Schwarzkopf for spearheading "Desert Shield Cookie Lift" and "Operation Desert Shield Santa" to benefit U.S. troops in Kuwait. She will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to call her friend. Barb will be cremated and her remains transported to Fort Dodge, Iowa to be buried next to her Dad. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
