News Death Notice

WERT, Harold Lee age 79 of Hamilton passed away peacefully at Hospice of Hamilton on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 8:20 AM. He was born in Shandon on March 14, 1931 the son of Elmer and Bessie (Hayes) Wert. Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1953. He was employed at National Can for 30 years, and as a tow motor driver for AC Trucking. Harold was a member of Monkey Mutual Aid Society #1. On June 10, 1950 in Hamilton, he married Evelyn Elliott. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Evelyn Wert of Hamilton; two daughters, Pam (Rusty) Meece of Palm Harbor, Florida and Doris (Robert) Paul of Blue Ash; three grandchildren, Scott (Jan) Meece of Flora City, Florida, Nicholas Meece of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Steven Paul of Blue Ash; four nephews, Dennis Wert, Mike Wert, both of Hamilton, Gary Wert of Marion, Indiana, and Donald Wert of Peebles, Ohio; two nieces, Sandy Spaulding of Hamilton and Virginia Rucker of California; a special friend, Teri Moore of Hamilton; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harlan and James Wert; a grandson, Kevin Buchanan; and a nephew, Harlan Wert Jr. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
