News Death Notice

STOKES, Bernice Age 90, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Hawthorn Glen Nursing Home. She was born February 16, 1923 in Menifee County, KY to Asa and Nancy (Bowlin) Sorrell. She was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer Stokes Jr. in 1981; brothers, Clifford and Asa Sorrell Jr.; sisters, Lena Burgess and Mae Jean Sorrell. Bernice is survived by daughters, Judith A. (Daniel) Gross, Vickie (Marlin) Wilhoit; grandchildren, Deborah (Montgomery) Evans, Lynne (Montgomery) Yeary, Lesa Jones and Steve Hamilton; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, February 22, 2013 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow on Friday at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.bakerstevensparramore.com.
