Edna Guillen Obituary

Edna Jeannette "Silva" Guillen, 67, passed away peacefully to go home with our Lord on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 in Hanford, surrounded by her children and family.

Edna was born in Hollister on Aug. 4, 1943 to Thomas and Carmen Silva of Hollister. There she was raised and attended school. She worked very close at Sacred Heart Church with the nuns in Hollister and then later moved to Hanford where she furthered her schooling. She became a nurse (CNA) and enjoyed helping and working with the elderly. She worked in this line of work until her first heart attack and later she had to retire.

Edna was a very loving and compassionate woman. She blessed so many peoples lives. She was more like a mother to everyone instead of a friend. She loved everyone. And loved the Lord with all of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Guillen, her parents, Thomas and Carmen Silva, two brothers, Andrew (Choppo) Silva and Kenneth Silva and a great-grandson, Edward Perez III.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two sons, Robert Silva and wife Gina, Michael Quair and wife Anne; five daughters, Rachel Hernandez and husband Joseph, Teresa Longoria and husband Joe Jr., Michelle Gonzales and husband Johnny all of Hanford; Debbie Ortiz of Clifton, Colo., and Roberta Salazar and husband Carlos of Grand Junction, Colo. Edna also raised two grandchildren from birth as her own children, Lena Quair and Memory Nuno of Hanford. She has left 39 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. She also leaves memories to cherish for 2 brothers, Joe Valdez of Hollister and Tom Silva and wife Alta of San Jose; three sisters, Loretta Rogers of Hollister, Rosemarie Winstead of Hollister and Helen Leftridge of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 22 at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 7th St., in Hollister. Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23 at St. Benedict Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 680 College St., in Hollister. For all friends and family that cannot attend services, a Memorial Service will be held at her home church, Grace Temple, 616 E. Malone St., in Hanford, Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.

My prayers and condolences to Edna's family. I know its been tough to go through, but the Lord must've needed another Angel to help watch over the family. My deepest regards to all the children and grandchildren of Edna.
