Maria Costa Obituary

Maria Leal Costa, passed away on November 27, 2010 in her home surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 88 years old.

She was born on July 8, 1922 in Terceira, Azores, to Jose and Maria Leal. Maria met and married the loved of her life Joe N. Costa at the age of 16 years old, they were married for 70 years until his passing in January of 2010.

They started their family and had two sons and four daughters.

Maria is survived by her sons, Frank Costa of Massachusetts and Joe Costa and his wife Cecilia from Rhode Island. Daughters, Maria Leal and husband Ilidio of Madera, Albertina Brasil from Hanford, Natalia Cotta and husband Joe from Hanford and Margarida Silveira and husband Tony from Hanford. Her brother, Alberto Leal and wife Bibiana of San Juan Capristano and a sister, Recardina Leal and her husband Jose of Hilmar. She also leaves behind her 20 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Maria is preceded in death by her brother and one sister.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 4-6 with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Services Chapel in Hanford. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Hanford. Burial to follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Hanford.
