BAXTER — Ida Mae (Hicks) Lewis, 83 of Baxter, KY passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center. Ida was the wife of John C. Lewis for over 60 years, she was a member of the Loyall Church of God, and she had worked as a Clerk in the Harlan County Court Clerk Ruby Ader's Office. She loved to garden and can vegetables and was devoted to her family, church and home. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Preceding Ida in death were her parents: Jennie White Hicks and Hillard Hicks; one Brother: George W. Hicks; and one Son-In-Law: Dale W. Lewis.
In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by two Daughters: Hilda Susie Lewis and Rose (Darrell) Cohelia both of Harlan, KY; four Grandchildren: Stephen (Kathy) Lewis, Jennifer Lewis, Elizabeth Lewis, and Katharine Cohelia all of Harlan, Kentucky; four Great-Grandchildren: Taylor Horton, Sidney Horton, Jonathan Lewis and Jayce Young. Also surviving is one sister: Cora Ann Noe of Loyall, KY as well as several Nieces and Nephews. One special friend, Janice Cowser of Harlan will also mourn her passing.
Visitation will be Friday, January 3 from 12:00 until the funeral hour in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 3 at 1:00 in the Chapel of Anderson-Laws and Jones Funeral Home. Rev. Billy Owens and Pastor James Forrester will officiate.
Interment will follow the funeral in the Resthaven Cemetery in Keith, Kentucky. Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Memory of Ida to the Church of God Home for Children in Sevierville, Tennessee they may be mailed c/o the Loyall Church of God, P.O. Box 356, Loyall, KY 40845.
