Douglas Friend Obituary
Douglas C. Friend 45, of Bonita Springs Florida died Sunday, April 13, 2014 as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Doug was born June 28, 1968 in Wethersfield, Ct., a son of the late Hugh B. Friend and Judith(nee Welch) Friend. He resided in Bonita Springs for the last 10 years coming from Scituate Ma. and Wethersfield Ct. Doug was a former technician for Animal Safari Animal Hospital in Naples Fl. before he found his passion working for Harley-Davidson of Naples. He is survived by his mother Judith Friend and James Magennis of Cromwell, CT, and his five siblings, Linda(the late Robert) Spencer of North Haven, Ct., Peter(Debora) Friend of Bonita Springs, Fl., Susan Friend of Bonita Springs, Fl., Craig Friend of East Hampton, Ct., David Friend and Caryn Collings of Scituate Ma., and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the First Church of Christ, 250 Main Street, Wethersfield at 2PM. In lieu of flowers donations made be made to Protectors of Animals(P.O.A.), 144 Main Street, East Hartford, Ct. 06118, Naples Safari Animal Hospital, 3333 Vanderbilt Rd., Naples Fl. 34109 or charity of one's choice

My sincerest sympathy to The Friend Family ...I am sad to hear the news about Doug and this horrible accident. Being a lifelong Wethersfield resident(as so many of us are), I knew The Friend Brothers for what seemed like forever...Highcrest School, Webb Jr High and WHS (I was class of 1985)...our ages didn't matter...everyone knew everyone! As we went on with our post WHS lives it wasn't uncommon to run into old friends...Doug was one of those friends. My first and consistent thought of Doug Friend?...a sincere young man, a gentleman through and through. he always displayed the utmost respect for those around him...I really enjoyed conversations with him and always had wished him the best. Though so many are sad and mourning right now, I know that we are all thankful for having known such a truly good person. I will always remember Doug...and always smile when I do....sending you all sympathy and wishing you peace.

I have so many fond memories of Doug E Fresh. He couldn't have had a better last name as he was a friend to everyone. My condolences to all his family and friends. He will truly be missed by many.
