DUREJ, Aline E.
Aline E. (Gendron) Durej, 82, Ascended Into the Journey of Everlasting Life, March 3, 2012 from her home. Born and educated in Springfield she was a daughter of the late, Romeo and Aurore Gendron. Prior to her retirement, Aline was employed in the operating room of Baystate Medical Center. Aline was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Springfield. In her retirement, she loved taking walks, meeting new people, working "word search" puzzles, and viewing her favorite soap operas. She enjoyed watching TV Land, and socializing with her friends. She will be remembered most as the devoted matriarch of a tight-knit, loving family. Her kindness and generosity extended to all who knew her, and she was a second mother to many of her children's friends. Her family, especially, will always treasure her words of wisdom and engaging sense of humor. Aline was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Durej. She is survived by her loving children, Steven Durej and his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" of East Longmeadow, Ronald and Jay Durej of Granby, CT, Mary Muddiman of Springfield. Aline was the cherished grandmother to Steven Durej Jr and his wife Michelle, Dustin M. Durej and his wife Pariesa, Michael Durej, Kelly Durej, Cory Muddiman and his wife Claire, Eric Muddiman, and Alex Muddiman. Aline also leaves three adored great grandchildren, Grace, Aubrey, Cameron; along with many extended family members.
Gathering for relatives and friends will take place on Friday (March 9th) from 4-8 p.m. at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home (413) 525-2800, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (March 10th). Everyone is asked to assemble in the funeral home by 8:30 a.m., for ceremonies which will begin at 8:45 a.m. A procession will form and journey to Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut St., Springfield for a Liturgy of Christian Burial which will be offered at 10 a.m. Aline will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to an organization of the donor's intention. wwwforastierefuneralhome.com.

I was saddened to hear of Aline's passing. My friend and I often spoke with her at the Towers when we took our breaks. She was always smiling and joking with us. She was a very sweet person and will be missed.

Our deepest sympathies to the entire family. I feel blessed and grateful that I really got to know her over the past few years. I loved her...deeply. Her wisdom, humor and example of faith saw me through many tough days. She never complained about anything. She was a risk-taker. Your Mom taught me to drive the streets of Spfld.,knowing that she was putting herself in danger by driving with me! We laughed a lot and I will treasure those memories forever. Uncle Steve!! We are truly sorry for your lost & familys lost.. We have all been through so much sense pepes' passing in 2009 up to aunt rosanna passing recently and unfortunately your mothers passing.., Your mother will be missed. She was a wonderful person to be around.I still can remember her wanting to hear steven & dustins' stories on what happened at their games, wether it was a baseball game or hockey game, she always enjoyed listening to their stories.
