Michael Rafala Obituary

RAFALA, Michael"Captain Mike" Michael "Captain Mike" Rafala, 79, of East Hartford died Tuesday, (January 25, 2005) at Crestfield Rehabilitation Center, Manchester. Mr. Rafala was born in Lawrence, MA son of the late Salvatore and Carmella (Finocchiaro) Rafala. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II and was a member of the Veterans Association. He is survived by a brother, Joseph Rafala of Manchester; a sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Frank Wojtyna of East Hartford; his loving aunt, Grace Damiata; several nieces and nephews: Karen and Matt Dillon, Cathy and Joseph Landry, Cheryl and Andrew Galinsky, Joann and Mark Merrow, Sal and Tricia Rafala; and his beloved pet dog, Heidi. Mr. Rafala was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Frances Rafala. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 29 at 9 a.m. from the Callahan Funeral Home, 1602 Main St., East Hartford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 160 Main Street, Hartford. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 28 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Peter's Church, 160 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06106 in Mr. Rafala's name. To place expressions of sympathy online, visit Dignity Memorial at: www.mem.com.
