Dear George and Barbara, My parents could not have chosen 2 more special people to be my godparents from birth. They were both true and spectacular role models. I was lucky to have been guided by them. I will miss them. Love, Barb Barcello Avery and Art

My sincere condolences to the Upton family. George was a good man... principled, kind and always helpful. I worked with your dad for many years at the DOT and it was my pleasure to have known him.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

We were sad to hear George's name announced at Mass, yesterday. We knew him through our Jesus and His Church course. He was a faithful attendee for 5 years, and we always loved his kind smile and chuckle. When he won a gift certificate for a McDonald's birthday party, he was so generous to give it to me so that my granddaughter could use it. We loved George, and know that he is in the 'palm of God's hands'. Because of the person he was on Earth, we believe that he is enjoying his eternal reward. Our prayers are for him, and with his family and friends. We will miss him, very much!God rest your beautiful doul, George!
