James Gillus Obituary

GILLUS, James Henry James Henry Gillus, 70, of Bloomfield, CT passed away Saturday (January 3, 2009), at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Lawrenceville, VA to the late Buford and Gertrude Gillus. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Georgia R. Gillus, sons, James Dexter and Darryl Tyrone and future daughter-in-law Sherrine Edwards. James retired from Pratt Whitney as a fireman after 33 years of service. James was a faithful deacon of the Solid Rock Baptist Church of Hartford, CT. James also leaves to cherish his memories four brothers, Rev. Melvin (Mary), William (Mattie), Willie (Roxie) and Buford (Gerri) Gillus. Three sisters, Melba Claiborne, Lula Henderson and Pattie (Victor) Nelson. His mother-in-law Henrietta Walker, three brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws whom he loved to visit often. Two aunts and many nieces, nephews and friends. A brother, Calvin Gillus and a sister Cora Bailey preceded him. James was an avid sports fan and supported the New York Yankees and Knicks and loved to fish. Family and friends are invited to join the Gillus Family at a celebration of James's life. Services will be held Friday, January 9, at Fuqua Funeral Home, 94 Granby St, Bloomfield, CT at 1 p.m., calling hours followed by a celebration service at 2 p.m.
